Things to do in London in September

September is often thought of as a month of doom and gloom; your summer holiday has been and gone, the kids have gone back to school, and the sun seems almost non-existent, but it doesn’t have to be this way. With plenty of activities going on around London at this time of year, whether you are interested in getting your sweat on during an 80’s Aerobic class, or a relaxing, rooftop yoga session is more up your street, by flicking through our carefully curated list of pastimes, we are certain you’ll find something to suit your needs.

Rooftop Yoga Classes

Sunrise Yoga

Where: The Sky Garden, 1 Sky Garden Walk

When: Every Saturday, 8am

If you’re interested in partaking in yoga with a view, look no further than the Sky Garden’s sunrise yoga classes. Taking place on the 36th floor, the sessions provide a view that goes for miles, allowing you to watch the bustling city begin to come to life on an early Saturday morning. Each class is followed by a healthy buffet breakfast, where you are given the opportunity to explore the entirety of the gardens if you so wish. The popular vinyasa flow of the session is suitable for all ages and abilities and guarantees ultimate relaxation.

Yogasphere at the Shard

Where: The Shard, 32 London Bridge Street

When: Every Saturday, 8:30am

Officially being crowned Europe’s best and most popular yoga class, Yogasphere at the Shard is the perfect wake up tool, allowing you to start your weekend off the right way. Taking place from an incredible 310m up in the air, this session is an experience you do not want to miss out on. On a warm morning, the classes take place outside, on level 72’s open Sky Deck, but when the outside air is a little too chilly, typically you’ll need to take your yoga gear into the warmth of the building, located slightly lower down on the 69th floor.

Starting the process using paper shapes, you’ll practice using this material until you begin to establish your craft. Starting small, creating a finished product of a quilted bound coaster, it won’t be long until you are able to go the full way and make a fully-fledged quilt. Throughout the session, the qualified leaders will be around to talk you through fabric selection, layouts, cutting techniques, and any additional skills necessary to start the process. Learning a life-long skill while having a blast, these sessions are great to come to alone or with a friend. Like with any new skill, you cannot become a quilting professional overnight, but this class will provide you with all the beginner’s knowledge, allowing you to develop your craft in your own time, having heaps of fun in the process.
